A fun fact about Israel is that it has a rather rare kind of climate: the Mediterranean climate, which only characterizes 5% of the world’s climates. Amazing right? But what does it mean, and how does it affect your trip?
Like the southern part of California, the South western part of Australia and Cape Town in South Africa, the Mediterranean climate is characterized by rainy winters and dry hot summers. It means that during the Winter (November to March) it is cooler and sometimes rainy (it rarely snows), Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are short, and the summer is long and generally hot and dry (May to September).
How can it affect your trip? Well, basically it should be pretty comfortable, as you can generally know what to expect. If you choose to book your trip in December, I can assure you it's going to be cool at night, and there is a chance it will be rainy though we might get some nice days too. But if you come in June, you will be sure to meet the warm Israeli sun, get a nice tan and walk around in shorts.
Not only you will know what weather to expect, but also, thanks to the variety of landscapes and geographic areas in Israel, you can always find attractions to visit that fit the climate you’re looking for. For example, if you come in December, this is the best time to explore attractions in the desert such as Masada and the Dead Sea. But if you come in August, Masada is going to be hot as a h**l, while the Northern region is a great option, thanks to the option of kayaking on the Jordan River, the springs of the Dan Reserve, and the Golan Heights. Each season has its own attractions to offer.
So, what can I say? The perfect time to travel to Israel, is the perfect time for you!
