I like sugar and desserts. A lot. Who doesn't?

The tour in The Old City of Jerusalem is a walking tour. Which means you are going to explore 4 quarters, markets, sacred sites, and much more, all by foot. Personally, I believe there is no better way to discover such a unique area.

But let's be honest, a walking tour can be a bit intense, right? So, get my top-secret list to revitalize, and take a break:

1. Jaffar's Knafeh- Knafeh is definitely my favorite Arabic dessert. This traditional dessert is made from Kadayif noodle-like pastry or semolina and traditional goat cheese, fried with butter and sugar syrup. Sounds weird? Messy? Maybe, but worth a try for sure! Jaffar's Knaffe is the most famous one in the Old City. It is cheap, fresh, and incredibly tasty. And, it is in the Muslim Quarter, so it is very authentic.

2. Cheese-cake at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer- In the Christian Quarter, by the touristic market and close to the Holy Sepulcher Cathedral, there is a peaceful patio and cafeteria with one of the best cheese-cakes I have ever eaten .Just walk through the Lutheran Church and take a right.

3. Poppy seed cake and carrot cake at the Christ Church- In front of David's Citadel, located precisely between the Christian Quarter and the Jewish Quarter, is the Christ Church. There is a reason for this. As a community who believes that Christianity and the Judaism have a lot in common, they placed themselves right between the two quarters. It is an amazing location- near Jaffa gate, where you will probably find yourself walking around. So, since you are already there, try to take your break in the beautiful open patio and taste the amazing cakes they have to offer.

4. Coffee break and cold local beer at the Austrian Hostel- In the Muslim Quarter, right on the famous Via Delarosa, there is a hidden peaceful cafeteria that will give you a pleasant escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Just push the button on the side of a large wooden doors and wait for the door to open. The inside looks like heaven, no less. Flowers and trees everywhere, and a European cafeteria, at which point you may even forget you are in the Middle East!
