עודכן: 18 ביוני 2020

Israel is a tiny country, and yet, full of national parks and nature reserves. In this tiny country there are more than 230 nature reserves and national parks (!). So basically, almost any area you stay in, you can find one of them to explore.

What are the most popular reserves? Which parks are worth a visit? Here is a list for you!

1. Caesarea National Park- On the shore of the Mediterranean Sea, there is a national park with breath-taking views and great history. More than 2,000 years after it was established, Caesarea National Park enjoys the fame of its antiquities, including an ancient theater, white sand beaches and the old port, where you can grab an ice cream or eat a fancy meal in one of the restaurants by the beach. It is only a 1-hour ride from Tel Aviv, making this park one of the most accessible ones in Israel.

2. Ein Gedi Nature Reserve- Have you ever been in a desert? Believe it or not, two-thirds of the Israeli land is comprised of desert. Lack of water sources, no shade, basically nothing. But if you know where to look, you can find an amazing oasis, and Ein Gedi Nature Reserve is one of them!

3. Masada National Park- In the top 3 most popular Israeli National Parks. Masada is a famous 2,000-year-old fortress on a cliff and still stands! The magnificent view of the Dead Sea, Jordan and the desert is waiting for you.

4. Ramon Crater Nature Reserve- One of my favorites. In the heart of the Israeli Negev desert, is the Ramon Crater. If you are a fan of geology, geography or just looking for a less-crowded experience and more breath-taking views, this is the nature reserve for you.

5. Bet Govrin-Maresha National Park- By car, only a 1-hour ride from TLV, is this beautiful national park. It is renowned for its caves, and trust me, you probably have not seen anything like it before.

6. Hula Nature Reserve- The northern part of Israel, in contrast with the hot south, is rich in water sources and ideal for year-round travel. The Hula Nature Reserve gives you the opportunity to check out the local species that live in the Hula Lake surroundings. If you love nature, bird watching, flora and fauna, or travel with kids, the Hula Nature Reserve is the place for you!

7. Almog Beach Nature Reserve- Ohhh Eilat… I like this area. You probably haven't seen anything like this before! The contrast of the red mountains with the blue water, the beach and the gulf, all together in one city. Almog Beach is one of the most popular spots in the city. This is a great destination to snorkel, explore and observe the colorful variety of coral and fish.

8. Rosh Hanikra Nature Reserve- Near the border with Lebanon, is the Rosh Hanikra Nature Reserve. An incredible view of the Mediterranean Sea, and beautiful white natural caves, where you can access by cable-car!

9. Beit She'an National Park- If you are a fan of archaeology and history, this is the place for you. It is a wealthy ancient Roman-Byzantine city which that was ruined by an earthquake and later discovered by archaeologists. It includes a theater, ancient stores and even an ancient public toilet (!)

10. Majrase nature reserve- One of the best experiences you can have in Israel on a hot day. Walking in the natural water of the Majrase, a local stream which starts in the Golan Heights and flows all the way to the Sea of Galilee.
